Two New Police Chiefs Get Approved

Timothy Tyler served as the director and chief of police for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources before accepting the position in Champaign. Previously he had been a police officer and sergeant with the Markham, Illinois police department. Tyler also has more than 30 years of military experience. Tyler's will start on June sixth.

Parkland College is also getting a new police chief.


The Parkland board of trustees appointed Troy Daniels to replace former police chief Matt Kopmann. Daniels has been on duty for thirty-four years, with twenty four in the Champaign police department. Daniels will start immediately.
